About this event

The Development Bank of Jamaica and its partners, working through the Jamaica Venture Capital Programme, are once again pleased to be hosting Jamaica’s 3rd VC Conference under the theme: THE POWER OF SMART CAPITAL….expanding the financial landscape, fuelling innovation, driving entrepreneurship.

An excellent three-day event, held from Monday, March 7 to Wednesday, March 9, 2016, the Conference is geared towards connecting, engaging and informing all. Join us for robust discussions, great networking sessions, opportunities to learn first hand what is happening in this emerging venture capital and private equity industry.

Conference activities include public sessions on "Creating Deal Flow", "Examining investors’ viewpoints on engaging entrepreneurs and unearthing opportunities" and the "Evolution of Jamaica’s venture capital industry"

Building on the successes of past conferences in 2013 and 2014, when we attracted world-class keynote presenters such as Paul Ahlstrom, Founder, Alta Ventures, USA, in 2013 and Professor Josh Lerner, of Harvard Business School in 2014, this year’s conference will provide an opportunity to discuss and debate some of the key issues arising from the development of the Venture Capital (VC) and Private Equity (PE) industry in Jamaica. These major changes in the investment landscape will impact corporate and institutional investors, portfolio companies, entrepreneurs, financiers, accountants and legal professionals, private and public sector policymakers, as well as local and international private equity and venture capital stakeholders.

Activities are spread over three days as follows:

Monday, March 7 Pre-Conference Workshop (By invitation only) 3:00p.m. Official Opening and Cocktail Reception (For Conference Registrants and specially invited guests only) 6:00 - 9:00p.m.

Tuesday, March 8 (8:30a.m. - 7:30p.m.) Conference Day, featuring keynote presentations, fireside conversations, plenaries, round table discussions and networking sessions.

Wednesday, March 9 (8:30a.m. - 3:00p.m.) Entrepreneurs’ Workshop specifically for start-ups, founders, students, small and medium sized business owners.
